The carnival is over. Finally. Now we can get on with the business of summer and hot weather. The predicted temperature for new year’s eve here? 36C. 38C. 40C. I’ve almost forgotten how hot that feels, we’ve had such average weather the last few months. Of course, with the hot weather comes the threat of fire. I am doing my civic duty this year and will be working in the State Control Centre for fire management if we have any fires. I’m on call just about every second week between now and the end of April. Cross your fingers there are no idiots with spare matches out there.
I took this photo a while back; having never tried to photograph a rainbow before I had no idea how hard it was!
Worldwide the weather news of late has been full of extremes; volcano eruptions, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, mudslides, wildfires… scary stuff. Makes me wish I had a bomb shelter, 3 years worth of supplies and a Hummer.
Unfortunately, if Mother Nature wasn’t extreme enough, there is no shortage of idiots.
srsly.
Oh, and I love the Seekers. They have their onw channel in my Pandora app. But… Aren’t they a bit before your time? ;]
Very nice photo as usual, Tracey! It reminds me of one I took in London, and it was difficult as well… Maybe I post it one day, so you can see…
And Tracey, I hope nobody starts fires there… it’s so bad, why can’t people see it? Here it’s also very hot, 35C today… well well, south hemisphere, December… normal…
living in yet another place that is incredibly dry (despite the deluge that happened over christmas), i echo the hope that idiots with matches stay the heck away.
